Cable technicians need a knowledge of the propagation of television signals when performing signal surveys, locating head-end sites, determining sources of interfering signals, and in the designing or specifying of antenna arrays. The purpose of this paper is to review basic propagation theory with the hope it will provide better understanding of the propagation of television signals. First, this paper defines and discusses the various regions of propagation. Second, the propagation medium and its influence on signals is discussed.
