By Darshak Thakore, CableLabs; Craig Pratt, CableLabs; Mohan Gundu, Veea Inc.; Roger Lucas, Veea Inc.; Jose Quintero, Liberty Latin America

In today’s world, reliable internet connectivity is a necessity. The COVID-19 pandemic has accentuated the need to stay connected while also highlighting the digital divide that exists across the globe. When we talk about the “digital divide”, we typically think about serving remote and rural areas. But a lesserrecognized digital divide exists in dense urban areas. Socio-economic factors in developing countries have provided broadband internet access to upper income, educated communities while economically disadvantaged neighborhoods are left unserved or, at best, underserved.
