This Paper will discuss current activity in Cable TV in several countries in Western Europe and other areas. Based on the author's personal experience, the following topics will be included: * Current State of the Art of European Cable * Differences in system configuration (ie. switched star in United Kingdom systems) * Technical comparison of European and American systems Technical considerations for European applications. * European construction methods and approximate costs. * Labor and training requirements. * Operational considerations (importing, taxes, rate of exchange problems, billing systems). A discussion of the future potential of CATV in Europe will include recent developments in DBS, HDTV and fiber applications.
