NCTA Technical Papers™ Overview

Since 1959, NCTA Technical Papers have served as the prestigious archive of breakthrough ideas and innovative approaches for advancing the technology foundation of the cable telecommunications industry. Showcasing works of the industry’s most distinguished authors, NCTA Technical Papers provide cable telecommunications technologists the opportunity to express new engineering concepts and the science behind them, while preserving them in print as a valuable resource for the engineering community.

The 50th edition of the NCTA Technical Papers will be presented at Cable Show '09, April 1-3 in Washington, D.C.  Selected authors will present highlights of their papers at technical sessions throughout the show. The white paper submission process will open Fall 2008. The 49th edition of the Technical Papers took place at The Cable Show '08 in New Orleans, learn more about the 2008 NCTA Technical Papers Sessions.

The Cable Show is the annual showcase and gathering place that unites the cable  telecommunications industry in networking, learning and collaboration. It's the ultimate opportunity for cable telecommunications professionals to discover new products, advances in technology, and innovative ways to increase customer satisfaction and grow their businesses.

What the NCTA Technical Papers Are

A Scientific Journal:  NCTA Technical Papers serve as the cable telecommunications industry’s record of breakthrough advances in technology. The Technical Papers collection embodies ideas that are new, problem-solving in nature, and dedicated to advancing the underlying science of the cable business.

A Reference Archive: NCTA Technical Papers represent the cable telecommunications industry’s body of literature on the technical advances within the cable/telecommunications arena. For decades, they’ve encapsulated important, breakthrough thinking. Papers from the 1970s, for example, suggested the use of satellites to transport content to headends and the potential of HFC architecture to grow the network. Industry engineers keep the NCTA Technical Papers on hand throughout their careers as a valuable reference guide.

A Non-Commercial Journal and Forum: Rather than offer a venue to launch or advertise new brands and products, The NCTA Technical Papers present a forum for discussing new concepts, methods, and techniques.  The Papers focus primarily on technical issues and in some cases business implications associated with advancing the underlying science.
